Post-Crucible, commentary and continuing

Crucible 6 has come and gone.  What an event!  This was my first year on the organizer side of things, running Guild Ball rather than playing.  Even still, I had a great time.  All three tournaments I ran had a good number of players (8,12,6 respectively), and ran super smoothly.  There were moments of difficulty that were overcome with straightforward talk and good attitudes.  I'm looking forward to the next one, which is only 6 months out!  We're moving to October!

On the painting side, I finished 10 of the 16 models I wanted to paint in the last week before the event, and only 4 of the remaining ones were without paint at all.  Some borrowing later, and a lone Fillet was the only primer-bearing model in the event.  Not so shabby!  Every table I put up had painted terrain, but I need to get some trees for my forests for next time.

What's next?

Well, I picked up a box of Genestealer Cultists to play as a kill team for Shadow War: Armageddon (aka new Necromunda).  That'll be a thing, methinks.  If not, they look fun to paint.  I've got some Necrons that no one ever wanted to buy as well, so maybe those'll be a team too.  Maybe 6-7 models to paint per band isn't bad at all.

Still playing Frostgrave - need to paint more guys for that.  My Summoner is up to level 29 or so, with a pretty decked out warband.  I've got a low level Elementalist as well, so I can play against newer players without being "that guy".

What else?  Who knows.  We'll see.  And maybe there'll be pictures next time.

Hey look, a blog!

So...I still exist.

Quick summary:

Successfully finished the painting contest on the Privateer forums last year (painting 5/10 points per month).  Haven't painted much since then.

Started playing Blood Bowl when it released in November.  Got a Frostgrave book for Christmas, started playing that in February.

Crucible 6 is four days away.  I am running Guild Ball at the event.  I have 16 captain models to complete by Friday.  They're all assembled, all but one is primed, and I can probably finish six of them tonight.  I don't think I'm going to make it, but I'm going to give it my best effort.  I also have terrain to paint for the event.  I have slacked hard.

Frostgrave:  Simple, fun, easy to play.  It plays with miniatures I already had, but I've bought some more for it.  It kinda scratches the Mordheim itch;  not completely, but enough to satisfy.

Maybe I'll update more often than bi-annually.
